NEWSLETTER CHELMSFORD TOWN TWINNING ASSOCIATION
Annonay - Backnang - Chelmsford CTTA NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2010 All members and friends are invited to the CTTA New Year Party and a celebration of the new twinning year. This will be held at the Cosmo Flame Restaurant, Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, 7.30pm on Thursday 27th January and tickets cost £12 per head including refreshments and the first drink. Gloria and Liz have been planning a full programme of events for the coming year so please do come along to hear what is in store for 2011. We need to know numbers for catering so please contact Janet if you would like to come. A new idea for the New Year is a Race Night and this will be held instead of the Spring Quiz Night. The venue will be the Chelmsford Rugby Club, Coronation Park, Chelmsford on Friday 1st April. Anyone who has been to a Race Night will testify to a hilarious event so keep the diary date and more information will be posted in the January and February newsletters. Summer 2011 will be a busy time once again, with most of the activities taking place in our twin towns. Look out for the Patchwork Exhibition and Balloon Festival in Annonay, also the Essex Police Band performing at the Strassenfest in Backnang.
Thanks to all who have helped us in 2010, the year of Twinning Celebrations YEAR TO ALL OUR MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS

Diary Dates 2010: Grayson Perry cycles to Backnang 4 September Annonay Gourmandises 13-14 November Backnang Advent Market 27-28 November CTTA NEWSLETTER - JULY 2010 Life has calmed down a bit for the CTTA after the hectic but excellent Celebrations in June but nine people travelled to Backnang for the Strassenfest, selling marmalade on a very hot and football-fuelled weekend. The football was a great let-down and the marmalade may have been slow to sell on this occasion but the new CTTA cotton shopping bags were a great hit. These, together with the twinning balloons, were donated to the association by High Chelmer Shopping Centre and we are very grateful to our President, Mick McDonagh, for his continuing support.
Grayson Perry, the distinctive award-winning artist, was brought up in Chelmsford and he will be starting a cycle ride from Chelmsford to Backnang on Saturday 4th September. The BBC has commissioned a film of the trip and Grayson will be leaving Chelmsford Museum in Oaklands Park, Moulsham Street, 10am-11am. We are hoping that as many people as possible from the association will be there to cheer him on his way and if you can fit in a quick visit to the park between shopping trips, please bring your friends and family along and join us for a unique twinning event.

After a splendid weekend of Anniversary Celebrations the CTTA can congratulate itself! The feedback from all three twin towns has been excellent and the Reception on the Friday evening was a night to remember with many people able to meet and catch up with friends from the past 20 years Special thanks for the organisation of the programme for the weekend must go to Gloria and Liz, who both worked tirelessly for months beforehand to make sure that we all had a good time. Traute Priestley and John Salmon also worked hard behind the scenes, attending the planning meetings and ensuring smooth running on the weekend itself. Many thanks to John Cox who spent a busy few days behind the wheel of a minibus, and we are also very grateful for the support provided by Chelmsford Borough Council during the weekend's activities.
We must also thank all our hosts - we could not have done this without you! And of course, thanks to all our visitors from Backnang and Annonay who made the journey to Chelmsford and helped us celebrate many years of twinning.
We can now relax a little - but only a little for the nine people who are travelling to the Backnang Strassenfest. We wish them well and good trading on the CTTA stand - hopefully they will have plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere in the Market Place while they listen to Caprice Essex Wind Orchestra.
